Black Entrepreneur Blueprint # 397 – Jay Jones – Three Quick & Easy Ways To Generate More Leads For Any Business

Leads are the lifeblood of any business, without leads you have no sales, and without sales, you have no business. The problem with many faltering companies is that they do not have a system to create a predictable daily lead flow. On today’s Black Entrepreneur Blueprint podcast episode # 397, Jay discusses three simple and easy ideas to generate leads for your business with very little work.

Leads are the lifeblood of any business, you have to have leads to make sales, and those sales keep you in business. But what happens when you don’t have enough leads or even worse, no leads? The two most important systems a business must-have, are 1) A lead generation system, and 2) a fulfillment system. When you’re systematizing your business, these are the first two systems you should create.

NUMBER 1

Create a high converting lead magnet that helps your audience solve a problem or accomplish something desirable. For example, if you are selling an online course to teach people how to become a successful podcaster, your lead magnet may be a special podcast episode that reveals “The 10 Biggest Mistakes New Podcasters Make.” This could be a simple 5-minute podcast episode that you create and in order for them to listen to it, they have to input their name and email address and subscribe to your podcast. This has multiple benefits to you as the podcaster: 1, you get a new lead, and 2, you get a new subscriber to your podcast.

I’m not going to get too deep into landing pages and lead magnets, and how to set that up in this episode, but you can use software like www.dropfunnels.com to create that lead magnet.

NOTE: you do not have to be the creator of the content to use it as a lead magnet. You can use existing content from others as your lead magnet. For example, Shopify just came out with a very detailed report about the future of eCommerce – you can offer that report as a lead magnet for people who are in the eCommerce space.  You could also use a video, or news story about a topic related to your audience. Say, Newsweek did an article on the popularity of podcasting and how much money top podcasters are making. This is content you didn’t even have to create. NUMBER 2

You can use a quiz/questionnaire to get people to answer questions and capture their contact information. For example, we’re going to use the same premise as before that you’re selling an online course to teach people how to create a profitable podcaster. The quiz can ask questions such as:

Quiz/Questionnaire title: Do you have what it takes to be a successful podcaster?

  • Do you have experience podcasting? If yes, how much (how many episodes)
  • Do you currently listen to podcasts?
  • Are you knowledgeable in certain topics that people would find interesting?
  • Do you enjoy creating audio content?
  • Do you know what microphone is best for podcasting?
  • Do you know what software to use to record your podcast?
  • How much money would you like to make each month with your podcast?
  • Are you willing to invest to become a profitable podcaster?

Based on the answers to the quiz/questionnaire, you can recommend they take your online course to help them create that profitable podcast. People have less of a problem giving you answers to a quiz/questionnaire because it’s gamified.

NUMBER 3

You can use sweepstakes, drawings, and giveaways to generate more leads. Everyone loves to win something for free, but just make sure your sweepstakes or giveaway is aligned with and to your target audience. Many people join sweepstakes and giveaways just to try to win something and are not real prospects – so just be aware that the quality of your leads may not be as good as other lead generation methods. For example: if you are selling the podcasting course, you could give away free access to your course for one person. This is very specific and the only people that will enter the sweepstakes are people that are really interested in podcasting. Now if you have 500 entrants and one winner, that means that 499 people didn’t win but are interested. Maybe you can entice them with an email that says something like “sorry you didn’t win, but because you participated, I’m going to give you a 20% discount on the course good for the next 24 hours.” Now you’re taking those leads and creating a sense of urgency and hopefully, you can covert some of them into sales.

There are several software companies that do this including www.shortstack.com  and www.wishpond.com. I’ve used shortstack but not wishpond. Here are some things you can do (photo contest, photo caption contest, coupon, essay contest, sweepstakes, IG hashtag contest, referral contest, leaderboard contest, video contest, voting contest).
