BLACK ENTREPRENEUR BLUEPRINT SHOW NOTES – EPISODE # 517
THE PROBLEM WITH MOST BUSINESSES IS THAT THEY DON’T LAY OUT AND DIAGRAM THEIR PLAN BEFORE THEY TRY TO IMPLEMENT IT. THIS IS THE TIME TO DO EXACTLY THIS AND DO A WEEKLY CHECKUP ON YOUR BUSINESS. MANY OF US GET CAUGHT UP IN WORKING ON THE PLAN WITHOUT CREATING THE BLUEPRINT OF THE PLAN INCLUDING THE STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THE PLAN.
So today I’m going to give you a weekly checkup template to help you check the progress of your business and lay out a blueprint for the next week to help you be more productive.
This four-hour period allows you to focus without distractions (some may call it deep work or time blocking)
STEP 1 – Have you met your goal of getting sales leads (building your database/list) for the week? How many new leads have you added to your sales funnel/database? Create a grid and input the numbers you’ve gained versus your goal. Also, identify where the leads came from, so you know what method of marketing works the best.
STEP 2 – Have you met your sales goals for the week? How much revenue did you generate this week? Create a weekly sales grid and input the dollar amount of weekly sales versus your goal.
STEP 3 – Review your sales and lead generation numbers from the previous week’s scorecard and give yourself a star on your paper if you met or exceeded BOTH of your goals.
STEP 4 – Review your current marketing and lead generation campaigns and determine if they are successful or not. If you don’t have any campaigns to generate leads, create one. Make adjustments to your marketing as needed.
STEP 5 – Determine the three most important things that must get done in the next 7 days for you to improve your business. Put them in order of importance along with a deadline to complete them (try to have them completed within a week so you can close out the tasks before your next session.) Also note why this needs to be done (what is the desired objective), what tasks are required to complete the project, who will do these tasks/projects, and who will implement them.
This may include creating a new ad campaign, updating your website, creating new content, etc. Whatever you need to be done to move your business forward.
STEP 6 – Review last week’s scorecard and carry over any of the three most important things that you didn’t complete. Write down why you didn’t complete it and make sure it takes priority for the current week.
STEP 7 – Write down any new ideas you have to improve your business and use a simple mind map to jot down some notes. Ask yourself “who, what, why, when, and how.” Who is it for? What is it? Why do you need it? When are you planning on implementing it? How are you going to get it done?
STEP 8 – Add any of your new ideas that make sense to your weekly template and start to implement them.
STEP 9 – Take the last 30-45 minutes to just think and write (use a pen and paper, not your computer or phone). During this time, you should layout your weekly game plan by creating a simple written paragraph about what you need to do. It may include simple diagrams for sales funnels and/or storyboards for creating content, etc.
