Don’t Be Pacified By A Paycheck

One of the greatest fears that would-be entrepreneurs face is that of losing their regular paycheck. Many great ideas and many great companies have never been launched because of the pacification of the paycheck. Now don’t get me wrong, a consistent paycheck is a nice thing to have deposited into your bank account every other week, but don’t let that keep you from living your dreams and pursuing your passion. As long as you are working for someone else you are living their dreams not yours. In this new economy we are not even safe working for someone else like we were 30 years ago. Companies are downsizing and cutting costs, pensions are being lost, and people are being laid off from the largest employers in the country. The fact is that most people will not work for the same company for 30 years and retire with a pension; that just doesn’t happen anymore. So if you have even the slightest desire to start your own business there is an important question you need to ask yourself. The question is; “Is it riskier to let a company provide your income, or is it riskier for you to develop your own income?” I always believed that it is truly a blessing to to have the ability to control your own destiny and be able to create ways to make your own money, as opposed to having someone else control your money. I know people with great talent and skill who are about to have a nervous breakdown because they have lost their job and can’t find work; the bills are piling up and the pressure continues to crush them with the weight of unpaid bills and the specter of losing their home and everything they have worked hard for. Unbeknownst to them, they are actually waiting for someone else to validate them as worthy of the opportunity to earn an income by offering them a job. If only they would use the skills and talents they have to create their own money so they won’t have to depend on another person’s opinion of them. Stop letting that paycheck get in the way of your greatness. I understand that entrepreneurship is not for everyone, but if you have a strong inkling in your soul; it probably is.
