What is self-validation?
is the feeling of having recognized, confirmed, or established one’s own worthiness or legitimacy
Why is it important?
Self-validation can empower you to make decisions and choices based on your own values and desires rather than seeking approval from others. It allows you to live the life you want to live without having to be validated by others who may not see your value.
- People doubting you can accomplish something (my father-in-law when I started my new business)
- People close to you, like family and friends, may be envious
- Not living by default like most people
Example: Why do you let somebody validate if you’re good enough to earn a living when you sit across from them in a job interview?
How to create self-validation
- Have faith in yourself and your abilities
- Move with small steps and accomplish micro goals to increase your confidence
- Don’t listen to outside noise. Eliminate the negative people and messages around you
- Create an environment that supports self-validation, like a networking group of like-minded entrepreneurs
- Create the vehicles you need to accomplish what you want (example: my own magazine, nobody was going to make me a magazine publisher, so I did it myself)
