The Best 3 Minutes Of Advice You Will Ever Hear – Steve Harvey

It’s so unfortunate that most adults don’t consider themselves to be living a fulfilling life. Many times we get caught up in the traditional concept of going to school and getting a good job while we are relegated to focusing on our passion as a hobby or on the weekend. As a serial entrepreneur, podcast host, author, speaker, and coach, I truly understand the concept of following your dreams and connecting those dreams to your gift(s). When I left corporate America as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch to pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship, the negativity from family and friends was overwhelming. Even though I wasn’t sure if I was going to be successful, I knew that I would be more fulfilled building something that I created as opposed to fitting into someone else’s box. As entrepreneurs, our job is to create the system in which we work and build our business as opposed to fitting into a system that was already created. You see, you are a cog in the wheel of a larger machine that can be easily replaced.

There are so many talented people that have businesses inside of them that the world will never know existed because they unconsciously decided to “live life by default,” as opposed to following their dreams. Living life by default is doing what everybody else does – going to school to get a good job and living the rest of your life like 99% of the rest of the world. I always ask my coaching students to write down their epitaph as if they died today. I know that may sound morbid, but what I really want them to understand is that most people (that 99%) are not happy with how their lives are playing out. I want them to examine themselves and compare where they are, versus where they want to be. I ask them to dare to be great. What are your dreams? What are your gifts? Do you know your assignment, what were YOU specifically designed to do in this life? The sad part is that most people are so busy trying to make a living that they don’t even realize that they have absolutely no idea of what their assignment in life is, and that is sad. True fulfillment comes from you doing what you were put here to do, anything else is living by default.
